About the Artist: Juan Jose Almarza, an internationally renowned genius with a centuries-long tradition of six generations of pottery making in his native Úbeda, Jaén.
With Arab, Mudejar and Renaissance influences and with firing techniques in Arab wood- fired ovens, he has recovered ancestral and traditional methods in a repertoire of pieces of popular character, such as pots, basins, plates, jugs, jugs... with an influence from the countries of Northern Europe, giving them a unique character of works of art that reminds us so much of Picasso in the workshops of Vallauris.
Juan Jose Almarza, the last link of this lineage, is an artist of international prestige with exhibitions in Europe and the United States. He extended his academic training over many years in England, Scotland, Denmark and Belgium and today continues to work in his family workshop in the south of Spain.
